Lynda Mullaly Hunt: ONE FOR THE MURPHYS

BIO: Lynda Mullaly Hunt writes middle grade and young adult contemporary fiction. She is repped by the incredible Erin Murphy of Erin Murphy Literary Agency. Lynda is a former third grade and sixth grade teacher but is now home more and writing up a storm. She presently teaches Scenario Writing to middle schoolers and is awed by their talent on a daily basis. She is also the Director of the SCBWI Whispering Pines Retreat in Rhode Island. When Lynda isn’t at the keyboard, she can be found enjoying life with her husband, two teenagers, impetuous beagle, and beagle-loathing cat.

DEBUT: ONE FOR THE MURPHYS (Nancy Paulsen Books, spring, 2012)

Street-smart, trouble-causing Carley Connors is only afraid of one thing--love. After she is blindsided by a heartbreaking betrayal, she enters the foster care system where she is folded into a family that shows her a side of life she didn't think existed, breaking down her walls. Along with the help of her Broadway obsessed friend, Toni, the Murphys teach Carley that, not only can she love other people, she can let them love her, too.

FIVE WAYS TO GET CAUGHT STEALING A CUPCAKE FOR THE APOCALYPSES: (1) Get frosting all over your neck (2) get caught on CIA security cameras (3) burn your hand on the oven—which will leave you “caught red-handed” (4) your brother, Eliot Ness, tattles on you (5) a picture of you taking a giant bite ends up on the front page of The New York Times (followed by a scathing exposé on “60 Minutes”)
