YAmazing Race with MGnificent Prizes!
The YAmazing Race is now officially OVER. Thanks to everyone who participated - grand prize winners will be posted tomorrow. Good luck!
Welcome to the starting line of the YAmazing Race with MGnificent Prizes, presented by the Apocalypsies! Over the course of the race, you'll be introduced to over 50 debut YA and MG authors and their fabulous books. Are you up to the challenge?
Here's how it works:
-Once you've finished reading these fascinating rules, click on the link at the bottom of this post to start the race. At each author's stop, you'll find a synopsis of their book. Read it, remember it, drool over the pretty cover. When you're done, click on the link provided and jump to the next author.
-At the end of each Leg of the race, you'll be taken to a quiz with questions about the books you just met. And accuracy counts - the winners will be whoever gets the most questions correct!
-Once you complete a quiz, you will be given a link for the start of the next Leg. There are five Legs in all. You are welcome to run the race all at once, or do a couple of Legs and come back for the rest - pace yourself however you'd like! Speed does not matter. In case you want to break up the Legs or get tripped up along the way, here are the starting positions for each Leg of the race:
Leg 1
Leg 2
Leg 3
Leg 4
Leg 5
Rules of the Road:
-To be eligible to win, you must submit all five quizzes, and must provide your name and email address on each quiz.
-The race will run from 12:00pm EST on Monday, January 16th to 12:00pm EST on Monday, January 23rd. Any quizzes submitted before or after these times will not count.
-Winners will be posted here on the Apocalypsies blog on Tuesday, January 24th, and will also be notified by email.
-As stated above, speed doesn't matter; accuracy does. Take as much time as you need to complete the quizzes - go back and look for the answers if you need to. The winners, five in all, will be whoever gets the most number correct. If there is a tie, the winners will be chosen at random from those who got the most correct.
-Only one completed race per person, please.
-This contest is open internationally.
-If you run into any problems during the race, have any questions about the race, or need a medic, please click HERE to contact a race official.
Prizes:
There will be five prize packs, each featuring a mix of ARCs/finished copies, gift certificates, and more. The prizes generously donated by the participating Apocalpysies authors are:
-ARCs or finished copies of: THE GATHERING STORM, A BREATH OF EYRE, CRACKED, BORN WICKED, CROAK, WAY TO GO, OLDSOUL, THE BOOK OF WONDERS, UNRAVELING, INCARNATE, YOU CAN'T HAVE MY PLANET BUT TAKE MY BROTHER PLEASE, THE CABINET OF EARTHS, THE OTHER LIFE, WELCOME CALLER THIS IS CHLOE, THE MISEDUCATION OF CAMERON POST, THE BOY PROJECT, STORYBOUND, and THE MAPMAKER AND THE GHOST

ReplyDeleteWow, seriously fun race! Kudos for putting it together!
ReplyDeleteThe only way this contest could be any cooler was if Phil Keoghan was standing on a mat, shirtless, telling me the rules.
ReplyDeleteSO cool!!
I finished before 12 because I didn't know there was a time to start at first... but I'm going through and doing each quiz again... will it count??? Please. This was a great experience and I loved every second of it, and I loved learning about the different upcoming books.
ReplyDeleteSure. We appreciate your enthusiasm. :)

ReplyDeleteHope everyone has as much fun as I did doing this!
I hit "enter" on accident before I finished the last quiz. Is it okay if I submit it again?
ReplyDelete-Kim

ReplyDeleteThank you so much for doing this! =D
I am getting an error on any thing that involves Google Docs. Did the first quiz but it errored out. Errored out when I tried to contact a Race Official.I suspect my PC so I'll save answers and links and try from home. And should I be scared that my verification word was Cultu which is far too close to Cthulu? LOL
ReplyDeleteAwesome race! I'm a bit windswept because I've just finished but it's so fun and it's a great opportunity for us to discover debut authors and their works. Thank you for doing this. :)
ReplyDeleteI really hope I didn't have to do the legs in order. I did 5 first and then went and did 1-4 in order afterwords. Hope that's okay. BTW It was so much fun, discovered lots of great books!
ReplyDeleteThis was great! Can't wait to see final winners!
ReplyDeleteARG!!! I missed it! Where was I when this was going on??
