Eleven Up: Interview with Lisa and Laura Roecker

Happy March 1st! It's launch day for The Liar Society. We're thrilled to help celebrate the launch with an interview with authors Lisa and Laura Roecker. And we’re doing it a little differently – I sent my questions to the very entertaining co-writing sisters, and they answered by vlog (and threw in a clue to a hidden part of their site, too).

I’ve been a big fan of Lisa and Laura from their pre-agent days – and not only are they talented writers, but welcoming, funny online friends to so many other writers, aspiring writers and readers. (I personally live in perpetual envy of their real life book group - though, I'm not envious of some of the days from hell they've chronicled on their blog and on twitter)

I was lucky enough to nab an advance reader copy of The Liar Society, and enjoyed the fast-paced, modern mystery set in a posh prep school. Lisa and Laura create a great sense of place with a school steeped in tradition (and secrets), and keep the story fresh through characters that bend archetypes to surprise.

From http://www.theliarsociety.com/:

Kate Lowry's best friend Grace died a year ago. So when she gets an email from her, Kate's more than a little confused.

Kate,
I'm here... sort of.
Find Cameron. He knows.
I shouldn't be writing.
Don't tell. They'll hurt you.

Now Kate has no choice but to prove once and for all that Grace's death was more than just a tragic accident. She teams up with a couple of knights-in-(not-so)-shining armor-the dangerously hot bad boy, Liam, and her lovestruck neighbor, Seth. But at their elite private school, there are secrets so big people will do anything to protect them-even if it means getting rid of anyone trying to solve a murder...

To learn a bit more from the sisters themselves, here’s the appropriately pink-streaked Lisa and Laura Roecker (And below their vlog, check out a message from Lisa and Laura with a clue and password to celebrate the launch day for The Liar Society in their own secret-finding fashion.):

It’s been so much fun getting to know Lisa and Laura better during this interview, and I hope we can help them have a thrilling and successful launch day (and encourage them to get writing even faster on the next book in the series)!

Now, as promised, a clue-revealing message from Lisa and Laura (and don’t miss the P.S.):

  5. Fun interview! I loved hearing the cover story, especially as I think it is a fabulous, highly appealing cover. But I totally relate to being bothered when a character's appearance on the cover doesn't match their description in the book, so it was interesting to hear how that was resolved. Looking forward to reading it now!
